Borrowing eBooks with the Libby app: Getting Started

Meet Libby

What is Libby?

Libby is the new, streamlined app that lets you borrow, download, and use ebooks and audiobooks on your phone or tablet.

If you've already been using Overdrive to borrow content, and feel comfortable sticking to that, you can find our Overdrive guide here.

If you're new to borrowing ebooks and audiobooks from the library, keep reading below to get started with Libby.

What will I need?

To borrow and download library ebooks you will need:

  • Your Saratoga Springs Public Library card in good standing (currently active--not expired; less than $5 in overdue fines; no more than 4 overdue items)
  • Internet access
  • A smartphone, tablet, or tablet-style eReader (such as an iPad, the Kindle Fire, or Nook tablet)
  • The Libby app, which can be downloaded for free from your device's app store
