Commonly Asked Questions

I borrowed a book, but can't find it on my device!

If you are trying to read the book on an Apple device, Samsung or Android Device, or Nook tablet make sure that you are using the Libby app on the device (rather than the website in your internet browser) to checkout and then download the book. The book will then be read from the shelf in your Libby app.

Restrictions

I am trying to borrow an ebook from the library, but it is not allowing me to borrow the book.

Please note that if your library card has one of the following statuses, you will not be able to borrow ebooks until the status is resolved (these refer to items physically checked out from SSPL or other SALS libraries):

$10.00 or more in total fines
50 items out on your account
10 or more "claims returned" or "claims never had"
Card is expired and needs to be updated

You can check on the items you have out and your fines by going to sspl.org, clicking the "My Account" link in the top right corner, and signing in with your library card number and password.
