Teen Services: Volunteering & Service

Your guide to all things teen at Saratoga Springs Public Library

Our teen volunteers are teenagers who are interested in serving their community while working towards building a thriving teen presence at our library!

We offer three volunteer sessions throughout the year: Summer, Fall, and Winter. We accept approximately 20-25 teen volunteers each session.

Volunteers must be in grades 7-12.

Jobs that teens will assist with range from helping our Youth Librarians with children's programs, preparing craft projects, creating displays, and other tasks that will improve library services.

Information meetings are held by the Teen Librarian before the start of each session. Volunteer opportunities will be provided at the end of the meeting.

Teens must be registered for the information meeting, which can be located on the library's event calendar under teen programs.

That's okay! We offer rolling admission to our volunteer program; However we do operate on a first come-first serve basis.

Fill out the Teen Volunteer Application and submit it in person at the Children's Desk on the lower floor of the library or via email to sar-teen@sals.edu. You will be contacted by the Teen Librarian about any current teen volunteer opportunities.

What We Are: Our Teen Advisory Board is an additional community service opportunity which allows teens to have their voices heard at the library and ultimately improve our Teen Services.

What We Do: TAB members work together to suggest and create ideas for future teen programs, teen room changes, plan/cohost teen library events, and work towards any other teen improvement in the library.

When We Meet: The first Monday of every month on the ground floor in a meeting room (If the first Monday happens to fall on a holiday, TAB will meet the following Monday)

Our Goal: TAB aims to create both a welcoming space and fun programs for teens that they actually want and will enjoy.

Why Join?TAB is a fun way to get involved with your local community and make new friends while building leadership skills. It also makes a great addition to job and college applications.

How to Join?: Register for the next monthly meeting through our library's online calendar.

Membership: Members of the Teen Advisory Board must be in grades 7-12.

Volunteer HoursOnly active members of the Teen Advisory Board are eligible for signed community service hours.
