Neurodiversity at the Library: Library Programs

Information on programs, books, and resources for and about neurodivergent folks

Welcome!

We welcome neurodiversity in all of our library programs. If you have questions about any of our programs or would like to talk about possible accommodations, please reach out to us. We also offer programs especially for neurodivergent kids, teens, and adults!

Programs for Kids

Sensory Story Time

Sensory story time is a program that thoughtfully considers the developmental needs of children on the Autism Spectrum but welcomes all children to participate. Families enjoy playtime, songs, stories, and a craft in a safe and accepting environment. For ages 3-7 with a caregiver. No registration is required.

Sensory Story Time usually occurs one Saturday a month at 10:00am and one Thursday a month at 6:30pm during the school year.

Neurodiversity Club

Kids and teens in grades K-12 who are neurodivergent, plus their friends and families, are invited to join us at Neurodiversity Club. Have fun and make connections in a welcoming environment. Choose from various self-directed activity stations – do a craft, play a game, build with Legos, dance to music, and more. Please register everyone who will be attending, so we know who to expect!

Co-Sponsored by SUNY Empire State University Center for Autism Advocacy: Research, Education, and Supports (CAARES)

Neurodiversity Club usually meets one Tuesday a month at 4:30pm.

Kids Build, Caregivers Connect

Neurodivergent children in preschool through grade 6 who enjoy Legos, magna tiles, blocks, and more - join us to build and create in an environment that embraces and celebrates all neurodiverse identities! While kids build, parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to connect with each other. Please register online.
