This is My Library

Saratoga Springs Public Library

A personal tour in print and pictures

The purpose of this guide is to help pre-teach the structure and routine of a library experience. With this guide, individuals will gain a visual familiarity of their own library so that they can feel comfortable during their visits and be able to use the services.

This is the front of my library.

This is the back of my library.

The parking lot is in the back of the building.

There are two different ways to enter my library…

                     

                                    …from Putnam Street           or           …from Henry Street

                                              (the parking lot)

I can take the stairs or the elevator to go to different floors.

          

My library has 3 floors: the ground floor, the first floor (where you enter), and the second floor.

This is the second floor.

           

It has computers, adult non-fiction, newspapers, magazines, and a quiet room.

The second floor also has a spot called the Saratoga Room.

          

It is home to books on a variety of subjects, all dedicated to Saratoga’s history.

This is the first floor.

     

This is where I will find adult fiction, tween/teen books, DVDs, music CDs, the literacy collection, the seed library and New & Popular books.

The Library of Things

           

There are a variety of things, from board games to cake pans and so much more, available for loan, on the first floor.

This is the circulation desk on the first floor.

          

This is where I can check out and return books.

This is a library card.

I can get my own library card. I need to bring it with me when I go to the library. The card lets me check out books, movies, kits and lots more.

My library has a coffee shop.

          

It is located on the first floor.

This is the H. Dutcher Community Room.

               

This is where I will attend large library programs.

There is a book shop on the first floor.

          

This is where I can buy used books.

Also on the first floor is the Teen Room.

          

It’s a super fun place for teens in grades 7–12 to hang out. There are snacks, video games, crafts, computers, programs, and lots more.

These are the stairs leading to the

Children’s Room. ​

The ground floor is a special place for children and their caregivers. It’s where I can find children’s fiction, non-fiction, movies, kits, ​launch pads, play areas and more.

This is the Children’s Room desk at my library.​

The librarians and clerks who work here can help me find the ​things I am looking for and answer any questions.

These are my library fish!

They love to greet everyone that visits the Children's Room.

This is the Game Lounge.

This area is where I will find games and toys for older kids.​

This is the Treehouse Room.

      

This is a great place for kids under 5 (with their caregivers) to play and learn together.

This is the Crawshaw Story Room.

       

This is where my librarians hold story times and children’s programs.

There are computers in the Children’s Room.

Anyone under the age of 13 can use them to learn or play online games.

This is my library's catalog computer.

I can use it to find out if the library has the item I want. They are on every floor of my library. I can also access this online catalog from home on my library’s website.

This is a self-check machine.

I can use this to check out items by myself. They are located on every floor of my library.

The Ground floor also has public meeting rooms..

                                                                                  

If the rooms are free, I can sign up at the desk to use one for up to 2 hours.

There are bathrooms on every floor of my library.​

These are my library's outside book drops.

When the library is closed, I can return my borrowed items here.

These are my library's security gates.

I will go through these when I leave my library. It’s important to check out everything first, so they do not beep.
