Staples recycles technology tools, ink cartridges and batteries

NYS DEC compiled this list of a variety of organizations throughout the Capital Region that may be taking items such as: books, furniture, clothing, etc.

New recycling for markers, pencils, and crayons

Fabric, notions and tools, (buttons, thread, fasteners, etc.) embroidery hoops and embroidery floss, qulting tools, yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks, etc.

A recycling program to donate cell phones for soldiers, veterans and their families.

For a fee, this is an all-in-one system allowing anyone to recycle everything.

For a fee, you can get rid of "techno-trash": including things like, CDs, CD-RWs, DVDs et al, video tape, audio tape, game cartridges, cell phones, pagers, as well as cords, cables and boards from computers. All materials are wiped and then responsibly recycled.

Donated bikes do not need to be in 100% working order, but please no heavily rusted bikes or bikes that are not restorable.

Brides Across America will pass on your precious wedding gown to a military bride in need. Wedding dresses, special occasion gowns, veils less than 5 years old.

Human-I-T will pick up your equipment, securely wipe your devices of all sensitive data, and then refurbish them before distributing the equipment to people who lack access to technology.

Do you have a surplus of unwanted medical supplies?

Keep in mind that used stuffed animals must not be missing any parts or pieces, may not have any stains or smells, and must be cleaned prior to donating. You may also check with your local homeless shelters and safe houses to see if they are able to accept donations.

Want to donate magazines and get them in the hands of people who need them and will appreciate having them available?

Books, CDs, and DVDs are okay. No encyclopedias, records, magazines, VHS or cassette tapes. You may be able to schedule a pick-up by calling 518-878-4933. Also, there is a drop box available (no appointment necessary) at: Perry Road Baptist Church, 150 Perry Rd Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

The Friends Book Shop is a used book store located on the first floor of the Saratoga Springs Public Library. The Shop carries children’s and adult books, CDs, records, DVDs, and puzzles.
